Flawless Italian Moroni Wins Packed Women’s Qualification

The stacked women’s boulder start list promised a dramatic competition — and the climbers delivered exactly that to the fans on Štvanice. Seventeen athletes solved all five problems in surprisingly pleasant conditions, but only one managed to top every boulder on her first attempt: Camilla Moroni.

The Italian climber first made a major breakthrough at the 2021 World Championships, where she claimed silver at just twenty years old. Since then, she has stood on the podium at two World Series events, but is still chasing her first major victory. In Prague, she took a strong step towards it with a flawless qualification performance.

Several other favourites also advanced to the semifinals, although with varying levels of comfort. While Britain’s Erin McNeice and Japan’s Mao Nakamura progressed smoothly, defending Prague champion Oriane Bertone squeezed into the top 24 from the final qualifying spot in Group A.

On the other hand, promising Slovenian climber Jennifer Eucharia Buckley failed to qualify for Saturday’s semifinal in Prague this time. None of the six Czech representatives advanced either.

The women's boulder semifinal is scheduled for Saturday at 12:00.
